Feminist Activist Kara Dansky: Democrats’ ‘Equality Act’ Is Harmful To Women And Girls: ‘Absolute Emergency’

On Tuesday, feminist activist Kara Dansky appeared on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” where she called the potential passage of the Equality Act “an absolute emergency.”

Dansky is the chair of the Women’s Human Rights Campaign’s Committee on Law and Legislation and a former Senior Counsel at the ACLU Center for Justice.

Feminist Lawyer Dansky: Equality Act Would ‘Enshrine So-Called Gender Identity Into Law’

Passed by the House of Representatives last month, the Equality Act would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act to prevent “discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation.”

If the Senate passes this legislation and President Joe Biden signs it – and has already signaled he would – it could significantly affect a litany of issues including marriage, family, gender, abortion, and other issues.

Dansky said the bill would “enshrine so-called gender identity into law” and “seeks to erase women and girls in the law, as a category.”

Carlson and Dansky discussed a number of scenarios, like biological males potentially declaring themselves women in order to get a federal contract.

Dansky: ‘What We Are Seeing Is The Complete Obliteration Of Biological Sex’

Dansky said this could be possible.

“There is absolutely nothing that would stop you from doing that,” the feminist activist claimed.

She continued, “There are really practical consequences and you’re absolutely right to say there are consequences that we have not thought through.”

Dansky added that if men and women can’t be divided by biological sex, the possibility of measuring things like crime statistics for each category would be “utterly meaningless”

“What we are seeing is the complete obliteration of biological sex, and we have to stop doing that,” she said. “This is an emergency. This is an absolute emergency.”

Equality Act ‘Has Consequences As A Feminist’

She then addressed her concerns about this legislation as a feminist.

“It has consequences as a feminist…” Dansky declared. “We need to have a serious national conversation about what we’re doing before we push through laws that redefine the word sex to include the nebulous, ill-defined, un-understood, made-up lie that is gender identity.”

The left is generally supportive of the law. You can read NPR’s explanation here.

On the other side, the conservative Heritage Foundation has their view of the law here.

For those who may not be up to speed on the state of feminism, the movement is currently split. Feminists like Dansky, who focus on biological women, are considered “TERFs,” or “trans-exclusionary radical feminists.”

As left-wing Vox puts it, “Known as TERFs, trans-exclusionary radical feminist groups are working with conservatives to push their anti-trans agenda.”

Democrat Tulsi Gabbard would also be considered a TERF.

Before leaving office, Gabbard introduced a bill that would force Title IX protections to be applied based on biological sex.
