The Trump Administration is set to make an announcement regarding their slightly tongue-in-cheek ‘Fake News Awards.’

Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah – that’s Shah, S-H-A-H Chris Cuomo – told Fox News host Harris Faulkner that there will “be an announcement a little bit later.”

Break out the red carpet and the black attire, media members. You’re about to be exposed yet again.

“We are very excited about the Fake News Awards,” Shah said. “There’ll be an announcement a little bit later and I don’t want to get ahead of it.”

The Fake News Awards have been in the making for some time, starting with a simple tweet from the President himself.

The Trump Make America Great Again Committee, a joint fundraising committee authorized by and composed of Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. and the Republican National Committee, followed up by sending an email to supporters asking them to vote.

Leading contenders for top ‘fake news’ story of the past year are:

The fact that the Administration is moving forward with the awards proves they don’t take Arizona Senator Jeff Flake seriously in any capacity.

Flake delivered a speech on the Senate floor earlier today in which he called the President’s penchant to point out fakery in the mainstream media akin to a Joseph Stalin tactic.

“Mr. President,” Flake said, “it is a testament to the condition of our democracy that our own president uses words infamously spoken by Joseph Stalin to describe his enemies.”

As Trump pointed out early on in his tenure, a media peddling fake news stories to advance an ideology from one side of the political aisle is not HIS enemy, it’s the enemy of the American people.

One can only hope the White House puts on a spectacular show with all the pomp and circumstance we’ve come to expect from President Trump.

Yes, please. Except, in the end, the journalists awarded would receive nothing more than a hologram of a trophy, a reminder that the award is as real as their journalistic integrity.
