“I just want to thank all who have sent their prayers and comments on the events of today. The events at West Freeway Church of Christ put me in a position that I would hope no one would have to be in, but evil exists and I had to take out an active shooter in church,” wrote Jack Wilson, 71, in a dramatic post to his campaign page on Facebook on Sunday.

At the time, Wilson was on duty as a volunteer security officer.
He drew his weapon — and killed the assailant within seconds.
Meet Jack Wilson.
When a terrorist gunman opened fire at his church, the 71-year-old drew his firearm and squeezed off a single round, striking the moving shooter in the head from 50 feet and ending the potential massacre in roughly 3 seconds.

“Wilson’s aim wasn’t surprising, given his background,” noted The Washington Examiner. “He was president of On Target Firearms Training Academy until 2016, worked as a deputy sheriff, and is currently running to be a county commissioner for the third precinct.”

Wilson added in his post, “I’m thankful to GOD that I have been blessed with the ability and desire to serve him in the role of head of security at the church. I am very sad in the loss of two dear friends and brothers in CHRIST, but evil does exist in this world and I and other members are not going to allow evil to succeed,” he went on.
“Please pray for all the members and their families in this time. Thank you for your prayers and understanding.”

Wilson is running for commissioner on a conservative platform, as the Examiner also pointed out.
Wilson has made his support for President Donald Trump known, writing, “I totally stand by President Trump. Please be sure you are registered to vote and please vote. The survival of the USA is in the balance in 2020!!!”
One person on Facebook reacted to Wilson’s post online.

This person wrote movingly, “Jack, I am a Church of Christ preacher, a chief of police and owner of [a shooting academy] in NW Arkansas. I know what you had to do was difficult. We will be praying for you and your brothers who lost their lives, their families and the church family. I feel God put you in the right place at the right time and you served well. You will take negative heat from those who are ignorant or have their own warped agendas. Just know if anything was justified your actions are. We have your back in every way. Your Brother in Christ.”
