Border Patrol Agent ‘Struck and Killed by a Passing Vehicle’

While working in Texas on Saturday, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent died, officials said and Fox News reported.

Agent Donna Doss, 49, was assisting state police near Interstate 20 in Abilene just before 9 p.m.

The agency shared that with the public in a news release.

That’s when she was “struck and killed by a passing vehicle” and died at the scene.

“Agent Doss died while performing her duty, protecting the community and the United States,” said Matthew Hudak, Del Rio sector acting chief patrol agent.

“Our heart, prayers, and support go out to Agent Doss’ family in this time of need.”

Doss worked with the agency for more than 15 years, after beginning her duty in November 2003.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) shared his condolences about the passing of Agent Doss.

“Please join me in praying for her family in the wake of their loss,” he wrote in a tweet in part.

“Let us always remember and remain grateful for the Border Patrol agents and their families who make courageous sacrifices to protect Texas and our country,” he also said.

Others shared their thoughts as well — and a Facebook page has been set up for her.
