In a development Fox News host Sean Hannity called “game-changing,” the Department of Justice has reportedly begun recovering some of the crucial missing text messages from FBI official, Peter Strzok.

The Senate Homeland Security Committee noted last week that five months-worth of texts between Strzok and his girlfriend, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, were lost due to a technical glitch involving software updates on the department’s phones.

The five-month time frame is right around the time Strzok began discussing meetings of a “secret society” and an “insurance policy” to bring down President Trump after his victory in the 2016 election. The gap ranges from December of 2016 to May of 2017.

Officials at the DOJ have told Hannity they are recovering the lost messages.

The lost text messages coincide with some pretty significant events – including Trump’s inauguration, and the dismissals of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and FBI Director James Comey. Not to mention they stop on the exact same day that Robert Mueller was appointed Special Counsel in the investigation of alleged Trump/Russian collusion.

We’re sure Strzok and Page – rabid anti-Trumpers and Hillary Clinton supporters – had nothing noteworthy to say about those events. And if you believe that, we’ve got some swampland in Florida to sell you.

The office of Inspector General Michael Horowitz claimed in December that they had all of the messages exchanged between the couple, but lawmakers later learned of the five-month gap.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley accused the DOJ and FBI of playing “hide the ball” as they try to uncover evidence of anti-Trump bias within their respective agencies.

“It sure looks like a bureaucratic game of hide the ball, rather than a genuine concern about national security,” Grassley said.

Grassley signed onto a letter demanding that Horowitz “reconcile” the fact that they said they had all of the texts, only to find out they didn’t.

Meanwhile, Hannity believes the heretofore missing text messages may show a “massive… abuse of power at the top levels of government.”

“You can’t make this up in a spy novel,” he said, calling the current Mueller probe and the actions of Comey “one giant incestuous circle of corruption.”
