Obama’s FBI launched a secret counterintelligence operation into the Trump campaign that began in July of 2016 and then morphed into Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel, which is still ongoing.
With that in mind, it’s been nearly two years of Federal investigators looking for collusion between Trump, his campaign, and the Russians, and what is there to show? If there’s a smoking gun in the case, it sure is hidden well. Meanwhile, the only people actually charged as a result of the Special Counsel’s investigation have been charged with crimes completely unrelated to the mandate of the Counsel. In other words, it has all the characteristics of a classic witch hunt.
So what are Democrats to do?
Double down, apparently. As their fundraising continues to lag behind the RNC, and they continue to take on mounting debt, the DNC is ponying up the cash for a frivolous lawsuit against the nation of Russia, the Trump campaign, and Wikileaks. Yes, they’re really trying to sue Russia.
JUST IN: Democratic National Committee files lawsuit against Russia, Trump campaign and Wikileaks, and others "for their brazen attack on our democracy, including the DNC hack and dissemination of stolen documents." https://t.co/uXFTVuh8lQ pic.twitter.com/GlaSf00iPP

According to the Washington Examiner:
The Democratic National Committee on Friday filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the Russian government, the Trump campaign, and WikiLeaks alleging a conspiracy between the three entities to disrupt the 2016 presidential campaign in order to get Donald Trump elected.
“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in a statement,The complaint was filed in a federal district court in Manhattan, N.Y., on Friday, and alleges that Trump campaign officials worked in conjunction with the Russian government to hurt Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The DNC also alleges that the Kremlin assisted Trump by hacking the computer networks of the Democratic Party, stealing information, and disseminating the material found there.
Given the zero evidence for the thesis the federal investigators have turned up, I’m going go to go out on a limb and suggest that the DNC won’t be able to find anything better.
What’s really happening here is the DNC continuing to use the tired narrative of Russian collusion as a rallying cry to increase support. It’s clear from the DNC’s own financials that they cannot afford a lawsuit, but all the publicity this is bringing them could certainly help fill their coffers.
New lawsuit at SDNY: DNC sues Russia, Guccifer, Trump, Manafort and tons of others for hacking, election interference. Leaked first to WaPo to show that it isnt just a publicity stunt.

The Democrats have a real dilemma. #DNC files a #Lawsuit against the world for interfering with the #Election. I guess that just about covers it.

This is the same #DNC that wouldn't let the #FBI, check out their servers to find out WHAT HAPPENED?

This DNC lawsuit is an outrageous and anti-national attempt by the Democratic Party to gain political mileage with it's base and to keep an elected President and his party mired in scandal that has no basis. #Dupree #Realtalk

Retweet if you think the DNC and Clinton campaign should turn over all of their emails, texts and phone logs in a counter response to their federal lawsuit against the Trump campaign. https://t.co/H7LmoXJCxA

Admittedly, I’m not quite sure what the protocol for suing an entire country is, but I think there are healthier ways to cope with defeat.
