When this disabled military veteran awoke one particular morning, little did he know he was going to face the fight of his life!
Gary Blough came upon a trio of terror later that day, torturing a turtle by slamming it down as hard as they could onto the ground. Can you imagine the evil in these boy’s hearts to treat an animal so inhumanely? Blough saw this tragedy and spoke up, not knowing what the result would be.
The trio then attacked Blough when he tried to secure a safe path for the turtle back into the water. What would possess these kids try to kill a defenseless animal? And then attack a person for telling them to stop?
A lot of families are broken these days and fathers not in the home is one thing I point to. Kids are not taught respect for authority or life, and they walk around town on a daily basis seeking trouble.
Some of them find that trouble in spots they never thought possible, and then it’s too late. Luckily, there are heroes like Gary around:

Two men and a teenager in Florida are behind bars after they attacked a disabled Navy veteran who was trying to protect a turtle that they were torturing, according to police and the vet’s family.
Gary Blough said he came upon the group in Daytona Beach as they were taking the turtle and slamming it down as hard as they could on its shell. He asked them to leave the animal alone and then tried to help the turtle back into the water.
“While I had my head turned, two of them started hitting me in the back of the head and punching me,” Blough told Fox 35. “Next thing I know we’re in a scuffle and I’m fighting three of them at the same time defending myself.”
He said the group began to punch and kick him, leaving him with a severely swollen eye and a bump on the back of his head.
After other people came to see the commotion, the suspects reportedly took off, but police later caught up with them nearby, charging all three with aggravated battery and animal cruelty.
What is wrong with these people today! People may think it is silly to come to the defense of a turtle, but it takes a sick person to torture anything defenseless. So glad this man stepped up, and I am glad he is okay.
What a wonderful person, standing up to protect an animal. And a veteran, such a great man. That’s the best of America!
