Disabled Veteran Is Surprised By Grandson In Military Uniform

One of the most beautiful things that happens for those who serve in the military is surprising your loved ones.

I’ve done it many times when I served in the United States Air Force and I love to see it happen more and more since I left in 1995. Showing your uniform creates a beautiful reaction from parents and grandparents, and it gives a strong reminder in the soldier’s heart that not only are they loved by his/her family, but they are honored by their country.

It makes the soldier’s job a lot easier knowing there is so much support at home for what they have to do for the United States of America.

This disabled veteran seeing his grandson in military dress is a tear-jerker. So many memories had to have flowed through his mind and as I said earlier, that “proud” feeling was probably overwhelming.

Our soldiers have it so rough these days, and it’s not like it used to be. For eight years, the people that were in charge didn’t get a damn about our military soldiers and don’t think they didn’t know it. When I served, we talked about so many things and the incompetency of the bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. filled the night many times.

Many of today’s congressional representatives have never served in combat, let alone gone through bootcamp or basic training, so they don’t know the first thing about serving their country in wartime.

A family’s hug is so special to the soldier. I can’t put it into words. Just know this, the emotion that both feel during a surprise like this is bigger than the universe.
