Democrats’ Desperate Attempt to Take Down Kavanaugh Fails

Thursday afternoon, in a desperate attempt to derail the impending confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, Democrat Dianne Feinstein announced that she had referred “information” about the President’s nominee to the FBI.

That information appears to be a complaint involving a sexual relationship in high school.

“Two officials familiar with the matter say the incident involved possible sexual misconduct between Judge Kavanaugh and a woman when they were both in high school,” the New York Time reports.

Feinstein announced that she had “received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court” and that she “referred the matter to federal investigative authorities.”

Two problems, as covered here at The Political Insider: One, the complaint was revealed to Feinstein in July, indicating she didn’t take the matter all that seriously and held onto it as a wildcard to stop Kavanaugh, and two, the incident was allegedly consensual.

The FBI responded to Feinstein’s referral late yesterday afternoon and indicated they would not be opening up an investigation into the matter.

The Washington Post’s Matt Zapotosky quoted an official as saying “the FBI isn’t doing a criminal investigation based on what Feinstein told them.”

Cue the sad trombone.

White House spokeswoman Kerri Kupec added that Kavanaugh had been “thoroughly and repeatedly vetted,” noting it’s odd that it wasn’t “until the eve of his confirmation has Sen. Feinstein or anyone raised the specter of new ‘information’ about him.”

Zapotosky’s source seemed to even downplay the possibility that local authorities would even look into the matter calling it “a broad outline” of an allegation that “seems like it’d be in state/local authorities wheelhouse, if there even is a crime, and if the statute of limitations hasn’t run.”

This seems to be just another in a long line of sad attempts to smear Kavanaugh who is by any measure a good and decent man.

First, they sounded the alarm over his use of credit cards to pay for baseball tickets and then paying them off. Then, they tried digging up dirt about his preference to watch college basketball games over debating.

Now, he had sex in high school. That’s literally their best, last-ditch effort, to stop Kavanaugh.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recently indicated that Trump’s nominee will be confirmed “before the end of September.”

“He’ll be on board at the Supreme Court by the first Monday in October,” he added, dashing the hopes and dreams of many on the left side of the political aisle.
