What Democrats Will do if They Win the Midterms

Republicans have controlled both chambers of Congress and the Presidency for the past two years. But the truth is, even if they lose control of just one chamber of Congress, every action Trump takes will be obstructed by Democrats. Not only that, they’ll turn Congress into a political circus for the next two years.

Impeach! Impeach! Impeach!

Maxine Waters has been calling for Trump’s impeachment since before he was even President, and you can bet Democrats would move to impeach Trump just for the show. It’s not just kooks like Maxine Waters banging the drum for impeachment. A half-dozen Democrats already introduced the articles of impeachment about a year ago knowing that doing so would go nowhere, since they didn’t control the House.

But what if next year they do control the House?

So commonplace are calls for “impeachment” that Cory Booker has even promised that Democrats will impeach Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Open borders

DNC deputy chair Keith Ellison was spotted in May wearing a shirt that read “yo no creo en fronteras,” which translates to “I don’t believe in borders.” His attitude isn’t extreme, it’s the new norm for his party.

That doesn’t bode well for Democrats. According to a July Gallup poll, “Immigration has surged to the top of the list of when Americans are asked what issue is the most pressing problem facing the country.” Over one in five Americans say immigration is their biggest issue for the midterms election cycle. And as Gallup noted at the time, “The midterm congressional elections are now less than four months away, and the growing prevalence of immigration in Republicans’ perceptions of the most important problem facing the nation could make it a fruitful theme for GOP candidates working to retain their party’s House and Senate advantages.”

Yesterday, Republicans finally took a lead in the generic ballot, meaning that Democrats don’t have any time to recover from that last-minute reversal.

Democrats want to reverse the Trump tax cuts

Democrats love to portray the Trump tax cuts as only “tax cuts for the rich,” but they’re willing to raise taxes on everyone if they take back Congress. Nancy Pelosi – who will likely be Speaker if Democrats control the House – said as much during a “Politico Playbook Live,” event and told Politico’s Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman that taxes will go up if Democrats win the midterms.

Pelosi seems to be OK with making the poor poorer, so long as the rich are poorer too.

The Russian hoax will continue

Get ready for investigations for the sake of investigations if Democrats regain control. The Huffington Post published an article in August outlining no less than 52 investigations that Democrats would launch against Trump if they win the midterms. While any excuse will be enough for Democrats to investigate the Trump administration, the Russia hoax will likely see a resurgence in interest.

Far-left Russia conspiracy theorist Rep. Adam Schiff has already indicated as much. He recently said that revisiting the Russia investigation is on the top of his list. In particular, he aims to focus on whether or not Russia has any leverage over President Trump through his business interests (so I suppose that means the collusion conspiracy is dead?). “The president has sought to keep that off limits, but if that’s the leverage Russians pose that’s a real threat to our country,” Schiff said.

Overall, progress will be turned back, and socialism will continue to march if Democrats win.
