Democrat Party Chairman Gets VERY Uncomfortable Question About Race!

Despite the Republican Party being painted as a party of old white men, it seems like the Democrats are struggling to get away from that image themselves during this presidential election cycle.

Fusion host Jorge Ramos asked DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz about the lack of diversity in the Democratic presidential field. Ramos said, “Does the Democratic Party– when I was watching the debate, what I was thinking was the Democratic Party lacked diversity. I didn’t see a Latino, or an African-American, or an Asian on that stage.”

Wasserman Schultz responded, without actually addressing the current presidential field:

“First of all, our president of the United States, who is a Democrat, is African-American. So certainly we have an absolute demonstration of commitment to diversity, because our party nominated the first African-American and then Americans elected him not once, but twice.”

“If you look at our party up and down the ballot, from the way that we select delegates, to the way we elect member of the Democratic National Committee, to the elected officials and the diversity that we have in this country, there is overwhelmingly more diversity…”

“We are the party of diversity. The Republicans are essentially the party of a monolithic view that is narrow-minded and says, ‘Let’s take this country backwards.’”

On the flip side, one the Republicans leading candidates, Dr. Ben Carson, is an African-American. The GOP field also includes two Latino candidates and a female candidate.
