It’s no surprise to our readers that the overwhelming majority of media in this country is liberal, with reporters going out of their way to attack conservatives and prop up Democrats every chance they get.
Throughout the 8 years of Obama’s presidency, any time the Republicans in Congress would push back against his radical liberal agenda, they were deemed by the press as being “obstructionist.” To the left, not supporting the liberal agenda is “obstructionism,” even when such opposition is based on a solid, principled foundation.
Take last year for example, when Republicans refused to hold hearings on President Obama’s nominee to replace Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, arguing that the next nomination should be made by the incoming president, given that Antonin Scalia died so close to an election.
Of course, the left howled that the GOP was engaging in “obstructionism” by refusing to give Obama a liberal judge on the court. The former president himself even claimed the GOP engaged in obstructionist tactics, penning an editorial in the liberal Huffington Post lamenting that Republicans won’t just roll over and approve his liberal agenda on issues such as raising taxes and the minimum wage.
Given how vicious the media was towards Republicans standing up to Obama’s liberal agenda during the last 8 years, we can only assume that they would be equally as tough on Democrats who have obstructed President Trump’s agenda during his first few weeks in office.
Right?
Wrong! This image below perfectly exposes the double standard that exists in the media today.
As Kelly Riddell of The Washington Examiner highlights, Democrat obstructionism has gotten out of control since President Trump took office. The article, which was written on February 8, notes that more than half of Trump’s cabinet had yet to be approved by the Senate. Barack Obama had 12 of his 15 nominees confirmed within 2 weeks of taking office, and George W. Bush had 13 of 14 confirmed.
Rather than condemning the left’s obstruction, the media has cheered them on. The New York Times celebrated Elizabeth Warren’s recent smear of then-Senator Jeff Sessions on the floor of the Senate, calling her “avatar, of the liberal resistance.” The liberal networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC cheered on the Democrats’ failed attempt at blocking Betsy DeVos to take over the Department of Education.
If the media were honest, they would call actual “obstruction” for what it is, but that word is only used when Republicans are standing up for their principles. The liberal media never views Democrats as “obstructionist” instead calling them heroes who are standing up for democracy.
