Michigan Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer – who has repeatedly urged her own citizens to follow her state’s COVID-19 lockdown restrictions – was caught violating her own state mandates over the weekend at a bar with a large group of people.

The maskless governor was photographed not social distancing at The Landshark Bar & Grill, at an East Lansing bar-restaurant, on Saturday.

Gov. Whitmer Broke Her Own Social Distancing Rules

The picture showed Whitmer sitting close to about a dozen other people. Tables had been pushed together to accommodate the group at one large table.

The Detroit Free Press reported, “Michigan restaurants and bars are still subject to capacity limits and social distancing requirements.”

“Current orders require six people or fewer at tables and distances of six feet between tables,” the outlet noted.

Originally reported by Breitbart, the photo was shared on social media by an attendee of the event, but was deleted later.

Gov. Whitmer: ‘I Made A Mistake, And I Apologize’

Gov. Whitmer later apologized in a statement, acknowledging that she made a mistake.

“Throughout the pandemic, I’ve been committed to following public health protocols,” Whitmer said. “Yesterday, I went with friends to a local restaurant. As more people arrived, the tables were pushed together.”

“Because we were all vaccinated, we didn’t stop to think about it,” the governor said. “In retrospect, I should have thought about it. I am human.”

She finished, “I made a mistake, and I apologize.”

The Detroit Free Press noted that this was not the first time the Michigan governor had ignored her own guidelines in recent weeks and months.

“It was the latest in a series of pandemics missteps for Whitmer, who waited weeks to disclose partial details of a private jet trip she took to visit her father in Florida after two of her top aides headed south during a coronavirus surge in Michigan, while other Michiganders were being cautioned about traveling south for spring break,” the outlet noted.
