It’s becoming commonplace to hear left-wing media sources mock Christians who turn to God and religion in times of tragedy, but renowned astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson took an exceptionally mean-spirited swipe at those offering their thoughts and prayers.
Tyson snarked that science proves prayers can’t stop bullets, completely missing the point and purpose behind praying for those who are suffering, or praying that these tragedies happen never again.
Evidence collected over many years, obtained from many locations, indicates that the power of Prayer is insufficient to stop bullets from killing school children.

Now, I’m not 100 percent certain, but I’d say a vast majority of people never claimed that praying would somehow miraculously have shielded those students from bullets. That’s not how it works.
Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief, Ben Shapiro, chimed in by offering the most obvious assessment of Tyson’s statement – that he is clearly a dumba***.
Evidence gathered from many locations over many years indicates no religious person was arguing that, you dumbass. https://t.co/KIJRSCAlxB

Others took the astrophysicist to task for making a statement which indicates he’s no rocket scientist.
Evidence from one tweet indicates a prowess in astrophysics can still leave one with a less than pedestrian understanding of metaphysics— let alone faith or theology. Not even getting into whether it is utterly crass or not https://t.co/RlVfcN1nPo

Perhaps the best response involved the online satirical news website, the Babylon Bee, which took Tyson’s own words and turned them against him.

Is it any wonder that another media elite, one who pretends to know the world and the science behind it so much so that they easily dismiss and sneer at those who value faith, would say something so radically stupid that they simply can’t comprehend what they’ve said?
The left loves to viciously mock the faithful. They try to put them down for their beliefs. And they dance on the graves of the victims by laughing and pointing at your supposed “mental illness” for talking with God.
Isn’t it funny though, that the same people who laugh at you for supposedly thinking prayers will stop bullets, are the same ones who actually believe gun-free school zone signs will stop them?
Who’s the dumba***, Neil?
