De Blasio Says of ICE’s Planned Raids on Illegal Immigrants: New York City Will ‘Not Cooperate’

President wants criminals out of the U.S. — yet Democrats urge resistance and even share advice with unlawful aliens

Federal agents will begin fanning out across 10 major cities on Sunday in an effort to arrest thousands of illegal immigrants in this country who have been issued final deportation orders.

President Donald Trump said the crackdown by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is meant to remove criminals from the United States.

“They’re going to take people out [legally], and they’re going to bring them back to their [home] countries,” Trump told reporters on Friday. “Or, they’re going to take criminals out and put them in prison, or put them in prison in the countries they came from.”

In an effort to make this country safer for its citizens, “we’re focused on criminals as much as we can,” the president added, noting that many other people follow the proper legal procedures for access to this country.

Trump actually delayed the action by two weeks in an effort to allow Democratic lawmakers to come up with a bipartisan solution to the humanitarian crisis at the border — a crisis that, ironically, many Democrats long denied even existed. For months on end, key Democratic leaders even called the crisis at the border something that Trump “manufactured.”

This is not the first time such a roundup of illegal immigrants will have occurred. Since 2003, ICE has carried out similar sweeps.

But Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City — one of the many 2020 Democratic presidential candidates — and other mayors across the country say they will defy the federal effort.

De Blasio told MSNBC in an interview the other day, “I think [this action] is to create a culture of fear” by the Trump administration.

He said he wants to “get the truth out to people,” he emphasized.

He said the city will “not cooperate with ICE … [Instead], we in New York provide legal assistance” to illegal immigrants in need, he added.

But Vice President Mike Pence, who visited the border on Friday, told Fox News that the upcoming ICE raids will not be done at random — and that the raids will focus on “removing those [who have been] deported by courts.”

Some of the cities in which the raids will take place, in addition to New York City, are Atlanta, Georgia; Baltimore, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois; Houston, Texas; Los Angeles, California; Miami, Florida; and San Francisco, California.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told illegal aliens they don’t have to comply with the federal action: “An ICE deportation warrant is not the same as a search warrant.”

Raids scheduled for New Orleans, Louisiana, may be delayed due to Tropical Storm Barry, KCNC reported.

Immigrants who know they are here illegally and are subject to federal action are “bracing themselves,” CNN reported. “They’re calling hotlines, afraid to go outside and unsure of where to turn. Some are staying home from work. Others are posting signs by doors inside their homes telling them what to do if ICE agents show up.”

Protesters have been out in force in certain cities.

Hundreds of people gathered in Aurora, Colorado, for example, outside the federal facility that holds illegal immigrants, FOX 31 Denver reported.

Some protesters even tore down an American flag and replaced it with a Mexican flag.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), shared this advice with illegal aliens, telling them they don’t have to comply with the federal action: “An ICE deportation warrant is not the same as a search warrant … Agents do not have the legal right to enter a home. If ICE agents don’t have a warrant signed by a judge, a person may refuse to open the door and let them in.”

Republicans have strongly criticized her for those and other comments.
