On Day One, Trump Education Secretary DeVos Blocked From Entering School

President Donald Trump’s Education Secretary Betsy Devos was physically prevented from entering Jefferson Academy in Washington, D.C. by left-wing protesters. It was her first public school visit in her new role. This is outrageous, and these protesters were clearly organized to cause problems:

The protesters created a barrier to the entrance of the school, and began shouting. One protester yelled, “She doesn’t represent anything that they stand for.” Followed by chants, of “shame, shame, shame.” The Washington Teacher’s Union organized a gathering outside the school, but were not among the protesters who blocked her. They arrived earlier in the day and greeted DeVos in peace, but with a strong message. The union, who said they did not support DeVos’ nomination, also stated that they hoped she would be successful. They said if DeVos succeeds in her new role then everyone succeeds – including all public schools and teachers. Ultimately, the union says they just wanted DeVos to hear their message – that they support free public schools and equal education opportunities for all children.

DeVos finally made it inside and met with the school’s principal and the chancellor of D.C. public schools. Watch the shameful confrontation with left-wing goons (below):

She also sent out this light hearted tweet today, and was immediately insulted:

Here’s the response from the humorless left:

Clearly, public school unions can’t stand that a conservative who supports school choice is running the Department of Education. Parents with children in failing schools deserve choices, and an expansion of charter schools needs to happen soon. Public education is failing our students while wasting taxpayer dollars. Betsy Devos has been a champion of school choice and deserves more respect.
