Dana Loesch is sick and tired of the mainstream media obsessing over mass shooters.

Following the shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas, anti-gun liberals immediately blamed the NRA before any details were known. But Loesch, an NRA spokeswoman, would not sit idly by and allow gun grabbers to attack the Second Amendment. (RELATED: NRA Blamed Immediately After Santa Fe High School Shooting).

In a video posted to NRA TV on Friday, Loesch took aim at the media, who she says have helped foster mass shooters by giving them so much attention.

“The media has got to stop creating more of these monsters by over-saturation,” Loesch said. “I’m not saying don’t responsibly report on things as they happen. I understand it. But constantly showing the image of the murderer, constantly saying their name, is completely unnecessary.”

Indeed, Loesch pointed to the fact that several mass shooters have been motivated by what is arguably the most highly publicized shooting in history: Columbine.

“I was reading about these studies — these numerous studies — and in fact, they went back and they noticed that all of these school shooters had one — well, had several commonalities, but one, in particular, stood out,” Loesch said. “Every single one of them was motivated, and every single one of them had at some point either in writings that were discovered at their home in social media or something — they had in some way referenced Columbine. Which was a motivating factor.”

Loesch couldn’t be more right. The fact that school shooters who were still in diapers (or weren’t even alive) when Columbine occurred are drawing on it as inspiration is astounding – and proof that the twisted glorification of the event and its perpetrators are spurring others to aspire to similar canonization.

More often than not, school shooters are often social outcasts who are bullied or suffer from mental illness, and their sick plans are carried out in revenge. Furthermore, they desire to live on in infamy, satisfied that they got the last laugh against their perceived torturers and injustices.

However, if the media were to stop glorifying these killers, that motivation for attention would be taken away. But the mainstream media can’t seem to see this fact and instead choose to threaten the rights of law-abiding gun owners while giving shooters exactly what they want: immortality.
