Dem Leaders Would Have Funded the Wall ‘Months Ago’ if Their Own Child Was Killed, Says Angel Dad

Dan Ferguson of El Paso spoke from the heart to 'Fox & Friends' ahead of Trump's Monday night rally

If an illegal immigrant had killed Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) or Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) son or daughter, then Congress would have funded the border wall “months ago,” Angel Dad Dan Ferguson declared Monday on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” pulling no punches.

The government partially shut down on December 22 after Democrats refused to give President Donald Trump the necessary $5.7 billion in border wall security funding.

Although the government then reopened on January 25 without wall funding, Trump warned he would not sign another deal unless it including the border security measures necessary for the country’s safety and protection.

The short-term deal will fund the government until February 15.

Ferguson (pictured above left) lost his 28-year-old daughter Amanda Weyant-Ferguson in November after an illegal immigrant killed her in a hit-and-run in El Paso, Texas.

Ferguson will attend Trump’s rally in El Paso on Monday night.

“My daughter was a sixth-grade teacher here in El Paso. She was struck and killed by an illegal alien,” Ferguson said. “This man came to America in 2012. He was captured here by the Border Patrol and deported. He again entered the country illegally, which makes it a felony.”

“In 2018 he was arrested for aggravated assault and put in jail,” Ferguson added. “They released him on bond without notifying ICE. Thus, he went and had a drinking spree. He ran two red lights and killed my daughter as she was crossing the street in a crosswalk.”

The suspect, Joel Velasquez, is facing manslaughter and evidence tampering charges.

Ferguson noted he has lived in El Paso for more than 45 years. He praised the city, which is across the border from Ciudad Juárez in Mexico, for building border barriers. “And the wall is a great deterrent to illegal immigration,” he said.

Ferguson said he backs Trump and his border wall calls “100 percent.” He also urged the president “to look at cutting off all the money for sanctuary cities.”

“And I know President Trump has looked into the eyes of Angel Dads and Angel Moms like me. He knows the pain. He knows the hurt that we’ve gone through. He knows the suffering that is being caused to the American citizens,” Ferguson told “Fox & Friends” co-hosts Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade (pictured above right).

Noting that his daughter was “so badly hurt” during the fatal hit-and-run that authorities “wouldn’t even let my wife and I identify the body,” Ferguson said this is “something I have to live with and my family has to live with every day.”

“You know, if Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Schumer’s daughter or son were hit and killed by an illegal alien, I can guarantee you that funding would have been there months ago for this wall and security for our border,” Ferguson argued.

Democrats like O’Rourke “don’t mention anything about the protection of the American citizens here, but they advocate the rights of all these illegal aliens,” Ferguson said.

The grieving father also slammed former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), who is an El Paso native.

O’Rourke is headlining a competing march and rally on Monday night in El Paso while resisting the president’s calls for border wall funding.

“Beto, you know — it’s funny because he’s a [former] representative of the El Paso area,” Ferguson said, noting that O’Rourke has yet to reach out to the Ferguson family after their daughter’s death.

Democrats like O’Rourke “don’t mention anything about the protection of the American citizens here, but they advocate the rights of all these illegal aliens,” Ferguson said.
