Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott Responds to Tough Loss With Charity Work

The Dallas Cowboys recently suffered a critical loss to the Atlanta Falcons. They just had their star running back suspended earlier, were sitting two-and-a-half games behind division leader Philadelphia, and, at the time, were languishing in the 6th and final playoff position midway through the season.

They desperately needed a win.

So getting hammered 27-7 by the Falcons had to be a deflating experience. Players wouldn’t be looked down upon if they spent the week sulking over the loss.

Dak Prescott, however, the young star quarterback of America’s team who was sacked eight times during the contest, wasn’t about to let the defeat distract him from what he loves – charity work.

“On Monday, Dak Prescott served meals to the less fortunate at The Salvation Army in Dallas,” ESPN’s Todd Archer reported. “On Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback filmed a commercial that will air on Thanksgiving Day that will benefit The Salvation Army.”

In a sports world where kneeling is all the rage, it’s nice to see Prescott serving those less fortunate than himself.

Prescott also has a partnership with Tostitos where a portion from the proceeds of one of their products will go to the Salvation Army.

“It’s important to me to use my platform and get with the right sponsors, get with the right organizations that will do the things that I’m proud to be a partner with, and that’s what the Salvation Army and Tostitos are doing with this campaign of giving back,” Prescott said. “It gives everyone a chance that might not have much money the chance to give back.”

What an incredible message as we give thanks this week for the good fortune in our own lives.

Last season, while Prescott was shooting to super stardom, he remained grounded, even being spotted at a local Target store quietly purchasing gifts for angels he adopted through a Salvation Army program.

Prescott has refused to take part in the National Anthem protests that have defined the NFL this season.

“It’s just important for me to go out there, hand over my heart, represent our country and just be thankful and not take anything I’ve been given and my freedom for granted,” he explained.

Prescott is a role model that the NFL, sports networks like ESPN, and GQ should be focusing on, not clowns the likes of Colin Kaepernick.
