Congressional Black Caucus Chair Joyce Beatty Arrested After She Led Protesters Into Senate Building

Democrat Representative Joyce Beatty was zip-tied and arrested after she let a group of protesters demonstrating in support of Democrat efforts to expand voting into a Senate office building.

Democrat Representative Joyce Beatty was zip-tied and arrested after she led a group of protesters demonstrating in support of expanded voting into a Senate office building.

Activists were seen in an online video at the Hart Senate Office Building chanting “fight for justice” and “end the filibuster.”

Capitol police reported that nine people had been arrested during the protest for “demonstrating in a prohibited area on Capitol Grounds.”

They explained that they had “warned the demonstrators three times to stop.”

Around the time of the arrest, Beatty tweeted that she was “marching to the Senate” because “black women are demanding OUR right to vote!”

Following the incident, the Ohio Democrat remained defiant.

“You can arrest me,” she wrote but, “You can’t stop me. You can’t silence me.”

Democrat Joyce Beatty Arrested After Leading Protesters Through Senate Building

We can only assume that protesters breaching a building located on the Capitol Complex will lead to the formation of a 9/11-style commission, 20,000 National Guard troops descending on the scene, and media coverage portraying them as ‘insurrectionists’ for months now, yes?

Or are all insurrections not created equal?

Beatty bragged about her arrest tweeting a photo with the caption, “Let the people vote. Fight for justice.”

A statement following the arrest features Beatty saying more is to come.

“I stand in solidarity with Black women and allies across the country in defense of our constitutional right to vote,” the statement reads.

“We have come too far and fought too hard to see everything systematically dismantled and restricted by those who wish to silence us,” she added.

“Be assured that this is just the beginning,” Beatty warned. “This is our Power, our message.”

What If These Were Trump Supporters?

The media and Democrat lawmakers’ actions over the last several months make it far too easy to play the ‘what if’ game.

What if this had been a group of MAGA hat-wearing Trump supporters instead of Black Lives Matter t-shirt-wearing liberals?

What if they had been led through the building by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) or Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) instead of Joyce Beatty?

The coverage the following day would be wall-to-wall on how ‘insurrectionists’ had breached the Capitol Complex.

Every major network would carry interviews with AOC on how she had almost been murdered, perhaps even live-streaming her subsequent therapy sessions.

Instead, the media is already running cover, quantifying the events by reminding viewers that this was a ‘peaceful protest.’

We don’t deny that it was, but would those words have been added in the event of conservatives chanting about ‘election integrity’ inside a Senate building?

Beatty found herself pepper-sprayed by police last May during a protest over the death of George Floyd in Columbus, Ohio.

The Democrat congresswoman at the time told The Atlantic she was “just another black American attacked while protesting injustice.”

Despite Beatty’s protestations that Republicans are seeking to suppress the vote of black women, the bills being put forth in multiple states contain no race-based language and would be applied equally to all races, all genders, and all people regardless of demographics.
