Heat’s starting to pick up in the kitchen, as the hours get shorter and shorter prior to the release of a controversial memo that purportedly details FISA court and surveillance abuses under the Obama Administration.
Know how you can tell? The ‘weasels and liars’ are coming out of the woodwork calling everybody who wants this memo released – the President, transparency advocates, the American people – ‘weasels and liars.’
President Trump has approved the release of the FISA memo, which many speculate could lead to the dismissal of some high-ranking officials.
National security reporter Sara Carter said the memo, which various sources have described as “shocking,” “alarming,” or “explosive,” could lead to the “removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice.”
Sources have indicated the release should occur early today.
Former FBI Director James Comey had a temper tantrum on social media over the news, calling advocates of the memo’s release “weasels and liars” and making a reference to McCarthyism.
All should appreciate the FBI speaking up. I wish more of our leaders would. But take heart: American history shows that, in the long run, weasels and liars never hold the field, so long as good people stand up. Not a lot of schools or streets named for Joe McCarthy.

The McCarthy reference involves the famed Wisconsin senator who claimed high-ranking government officials were Communist spies in the 1950s.
Rep. Matt Gaetz appeared on Fox News to fire back at Democrats and other officials trying to downplay the memo’s accuracy and significance.
“I think that the substance of this memo absolutely implicates senior officials at the Justice Department and the FBI, and I think that it shows that the entire Mueller investigation should’ve never been started in the first place, that it is built on a false, rotten premise,” he said.
Gaetz then responded to Comey, proceeding to shred the former FBI Director’s own legacy.

Ouch!
Seriously, where does Comey get off calling anybody a ‘weasel’ or a ‘liar?’ He was the man who will forever be remembered for letting one of the biggest weasels and liars in Hillary Clinton off despite ample evidence she had mishandled classified material.
This memo is set to expose even more of the vermin operating in the FBI and Justice Department. And that just might involve Comey too. We’ll have to see if it sends him scurrying back into the shadows once the information is out there.
