CNN went full TMZ paparazzi earlier this week, ambushing a woman who ran a pro-Trump Facebook page and accusing her of being in cahoots with Russian trolls.
I know, I know … it sounds like we made that up. After all, why would a mainstream news network scrape the bottom of the barrel when it comes to reporting like this? Yet, that’s exactly what happened.
Drew Griffin, special investigations reporter at CNN, sought out people who were, as he says, “duped” by Russian nationals recently indicted by the federal government for attempting to influence the election.
One woman who ran a pro-Trump support page that unwittingly shared events promoted by those indicted was approached outside her home. She was made visibly upset when Griffin accused her of working alongside the Russians in front of a camera crew.
The incident was horrendous …

“Bullsh*t” is exactly right!
Not only did they reveal this woman’s full name, but the camera caught images of her home and house number on the front door.
Nice work putting the poor woman in danger.
“I have nothing to do with the Russians,” she told Griffin despite his instance to the contrary.
“Maybe you didn’t know it, but you did,” he responded.
It’s funny CNN would make such an assertion when they actually covered some of the anti-Trump events that the Russians were allegedly behind. In other words, they too were duped.
Bad ratings @CNN & @MSNBC got scammed when they covered the anti-Trump Russia rally wall-to-wall. They probably knew it was Fake News but, because it was a rally against me, they pushed it hard anyway. Two really dishonest newscasters, but the public is wise!

It takes guts to harass a woman for essentially falling for the same scheme your own network fell for. Guts and a severe lack of brain cells.
NewsBusters provides video of the coverage by both CNN and MSNBC of an event titled “Trump is NOT my President,” a rally specifically mentioned in the Russian indictment.
Your reporters did the exact same thing this woman did – unwittingly promoting something fake Russian accounts were encouraging – and yet you’re the ones pointing the finger, CNN?
“There’s no allegation in this indictment that any American had any knowledge,” Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said in announcing the indictments. “And the nature of the scheme was the defendants took extraordinary steps to make it appear that they were ordinary American political activists, even going so far as to base their activities on a virtual private network here in the United States so if anybody traced it back to the first jump, they appeared to be Americans.”
If this woman can be accused of ‘working’ with Russians, then so can CNN. And that seems much more believable.
