CNN Relentlessly Mocked After Calling Kenosha Riots ‘Fiery But Mostly Peaceful’

CNN was widely mocked for an on-air graphic that described violent riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin as “fiery but mostly peaceful protests.”

In the segment, national correspondent Omar Jimenez can be seen standing in front of several burning vehicles and reporting on the riots sparked by the shooting of Jacob Blake.

The chyron appears to have been aired early Tuesday, prior to shootings in the city which led to two people dead.

“FIERY BUT MOSTLY PEACEFUL PROTESTS AFTER POLICE SHOOTING,” the graphic screams as Jiminez reports in front of raging fires in the city.

During his report, the CNN correspondent described the scene before him.

“What you’re seeing behind me is one of multiple locations that have been burning in Kenosha, Wisconsin, over the course of the night,” Jiminez said.

New Levels of Stupid

If you thought the phrase ‘peaceful protesters’ to describe people engaging in looting, arson, and violence was absurd, CNN did what they did best – cranked the stupid up another notch.

Numerous viewers responded to the absurdity, calling out the left-wing network for downplaying violence which led to people being killed later in the week.

“The phrase ‘beyond parody’ doesn’t begin to describe this,” writes Daily Wire columnist Matt Walsh.

National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Matt Whitlock wrote: “‘Fiery but mostly peaceful protest’ is so absurd that if it were satire you’d think it was lazy and unimaginative.”

A little advice to whoever runs the on-air graphics at CNN – The second you have to use the word ‘fiery’ to describe a city, you can immediately dispense with the adjective ‘peaceful.’

The Media is Broken kenosha cnn

This is practically a case study in why irresponsible journalism can be deadly. A major network downplays what is actually happening because they support the violence, resulting in an almost immediate escalation.

“It’s not even funny,” opined Twitter user (((AG))). “Months of enabling violence and destruction by ignoring and downplaying it, thereby eliminating any pressure on politicians to take action.”

CNN’s reckless chyron was reminiscent of their sister propaganda network, MSNBC, where reporter Ali Veshi just months earlier assured viewers that “protests” in Minneapolis had not become “unruly” … all while standing in front of a building burning.

It might have been the ‘stupidest thing ever said on American television’ at the time, Ann, but CNN clearly said ‘hold my kool-aid.’
