On Monday, CNN’s Ana Navarro-Cárdenas mocked recent polls that revealed growing black support for President Donald Trump, tweeting that the polls “have only been conducted in the homes of Ben Carson, Kanye, that sheriff guy with the hat and those two Cubic Zirconia & Polyester-Spandex ladies.”
For the record, Ben Carson is the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, “Kanye” is music icon Kanye West, “that sheriff guy with the hat” is a reference to former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke; and the “two Cubic Zirconia & Polyster-Spandex ladies” is no doubt a nod to Diamond and Silk, two pro-Trump African American social media stars.
Navarro-Cárdenas is a “Never Trump” pundit who backed former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in the 2016 GOP presidential primary. She has since garnered a reputation for attacking Trump and his supporters.
Yet her tweet Monday was so out there that Navarro-Cárdenas was forced to defend herself against accusations of racism.
The polls that that apparently got Navarro-Cárdenas so riled up were conducted by Emerson College and Rasmussen Reports. The Political Insider reported Monday, “On Friday, a Rasmussen poll was released that showed black likely voter approval of Trump at 34 percent. A recent Emerson Poll showed similar results, with 34.5 percent approval of the President by the same voter group.”

Team Trump immediately touted this good news.
“It might shock Democrats that support for President Trump is rising with Black Americans but it shouldn’t,” wrote Erin Perrine, the Trump campaign’s Principal Deputy Communications Director, in an exchange with Breitbart News. “Blacks are more prosperous than ever because of President Trump with record-low unemployment and rising paychecks.”
Black author and pro-Trump pundit Deneen Borelli called these poll results “Democrats worst nightmare.”
Navarro and Never Trumpers of like mind can’t fathom the possibility that people can make up their own minds no matter what color they are and don’t necessarily have to march in lockstep with the expectations of their group.
Maybe more black Americans are warming to Donald Trump because Democrats have failed them and Republicans are presiding over a strong economy? Did the CNN host even consider this?

No, instead she attacks black Trump supporters and seems to imply anyone of color who supports the President must have something wrong with them.
But if we’re being honest, isn’t insisting people vote a certain way because of their skin tone just another kind of racism?
