City Council In Ilhan Omar’s District Reinstates Pledge of Allegiance, Asks For Forgiveness

St. Louis Park, located in Rep. Ilhan Omar’s 5th congressional district in Minnesota, voted unanimously to reinstate the Pledge of Allegiance after an uproar that included a scathing rebuke from the President of the United States.

Late last month, the council voted to do away with the Pledge before meetings, in part because it allegedly did not serve a more “diverse community” and was intimidating to illegal immigrants.

“Given the current Washington politics that are going on now, there’s a lot of people that are afraid of our government, and we worry about that,” council member Tim Brausen said.

“Unfortunately, some of us feel like patriotism has been so politicized that it’s almost used as a weapon against people,” he added.

The move came mere weeks after congresswoman Omar joined the city council to discuss hosting future community events and listening sessions in the area.

Patriots Were Miffed

Naturally, people were outraged. Unlike Omar, most Americans do, in fact, love this country and would gladly pledge their allegiance.

Rep Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) – a former Navy SEAL officer – responded to the move stating, “We must appreciate who we are as Americans and what brings us together.”

The President weighed in, saying this is another example of how “people are sick and tired of this stupidity and disloyalty” to America.

The American People Were Heard – Loud and Clear

Just days after Trump’s outburst, the same city council who voted unanimously to remove the Pledge of Allegiance, also voted to reinstate it effective immediately.

One council member limped to the podium and practically begged for forgiveness.

“I’ve concluded that I made a mistake and I’m sorry and I’m asking for forgiveness,” Steve Hallfin said prior to casting his vote.

Brausen, despite voting to reinstate, whined “You want people to hate us because we start our meetings in a way you deem politically incorrect. As we strive to have liberty and justice for all, please let us have our liberty here and respect our local control.”

Maybe just tuck your tail next time and admit defeat. Reciting the Pledge is not politically correct, it’s patriotically correct. And it damn sure needn’t be scrapped in the name of making some illegal aliens feel more ‘comfortable.’
