Christopher Wray Confirmed by Senate as FBI Director

The Senate just voted overwhelmingly to approve of Christopher Wray as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The vote came in at 92-5.

Wray will replace James Comey, whom President Trump fired back in May.

From the Washington Post:

Wray, a former senior Justice Department official known for his low-key demeanor, pledged to lawmakers during his confirmation hearing that he would never pledge loyalty to the president and that if Trump ever pressured him to drop an investigation, he would push back or resign. This pledge appeared to gain him the confidence of Senate Judiciary Committee lawmakers, who unanimously approved his nomination and urged their colleagues to vote in favor his confirmation.

Wray told the senators during testimony that he would act independently and would not take orders from President Trump.

This was a crucial post that has finally been filled. Let’s hope Wray does a better job of enforcing the law than Comey. And hopefully he won’t leak damaging information to the press.
