A familiar face at Fox News isn’t happy with his colleagues.

Chris Wallace, host of Fox News Sunday, criticized his fellow Fox anchors and contributors in an interview with the Associated Press. Apparently Wallace is none-too-pleased with how his Fox co-workers talk about the media.

“It bothers me. If they want to say they like Trump, or that they’re upset with the Democrats, that’s fine. That’s opinion. That’s what they do for a living,” Wallace told the AP.

Then he got to the heart of the matter: “I don’t like them bashing the media, because oftentimes what they’re bashing is stuff that we on the news side are doing. I don’t think they recognize that they have a role at Fox News and we have a role at Fox News. I don’t know what’s in their head. I just think it’s bad form.”

OK, I can understand that. If you’re on Fox News, you’re in the media. Period. Perhaps, then, incessantly attacking the media comes off as bad form.

But – and this is a huge “but” – media criticism from Fox contributors shouldn’t be considered in a vacuum. There are other factors involved, specifically the virulent Trump Derangement Syndrome that has infected other cable TV networks.

CNN is notoriously anti-Trump. MSNBC is whacked out on liberal goofballs and can’t tell the difference between Trump and Hitler.

When Fox commentators like Tomi Lahren call out media bias, they aren’t calling out the media. They’re bringing attention to the irrational Trump hatred that is passed around networks like CNN like a communicable disease.

There’s a subtle effect happening here. Every time a Fox host rips on the media, it’s understood that whom they are really targeting are the liberal sycophants who pretend to be objectively reporting on news but are only pushing Democrat propaganda.
