California Governor Gavin Newsom Promises to Add Illegal Immigrants to State Health Plan

Fresh off being sworn in as California’s new governor, Gavin Newsom has vowed to expand state healthcare to illegal immigrants between the ages of 19 and 26.

The move comes on the heels of a comrade in New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio, announcing that the city would be providing free healthcare to uninsured illegals, and ensuring that radicals on both coasts continue to cater to law-breakers over law-abiding citizens.

Newsom released a $144 billion budget proposal that expanded his state’s spending to cover new and improved education programs and health initiatives.

“Making sure healthcare is affordable and accessible for every Californian, including undocumented community members whom the federal government has unjustly shut out of care, is essential to reaching that vision for our future,” the California Immigrant Policy Center said in a statement.

Newsom noted that his new healthcare outreach for illegals ensures his state will help provide “sanctuary to all who seek it.”

The Costs Are Staggering

Reports last December suggested that expanding healthcare coverage to illegals under the state’s Medi-Cal program would cost $1 billion per year.

$1 billion to take care of individuals who should not even be in the country, let alone California. Seems excessive, right?

Democrats in the Golden State have also proposed a plan that would let all adult illegal immigrants take advantage of Medi-Cal, a proposal that would exceed $3 billion annually.

Prior to these ridiculous ideas, the Federation For American Immigration Reform estimated that illegals were costing California taxpayers upwards of $25 billion a year.

It’s not like the state has greater concerns at the moment – like exorbitantly high taxes, businesses vacating the state at a record pace, billions in debt and unfunded liabilities, and excruciatingly slow traffic.

Healthcare isn’t the only luxury being afforded to aliens in California. Last year, Newsom’s predecessor Jerry Brown, issued a revised budget which allocated an extra $15 million to help defend illegal immigrants against deportation.

The plan was to designed to expand “the availability of legal services for people seeking naturalization services, deportation defense, or assistance in securing other legal immigration status.”

Healthcare, free lawyers – socialists in California will spare no expense in their quest to placate criminals.

Republican Senator Bill Cassidy Fight Back

Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, a doctor, vowed to introduce legislation that would block California from using federal funds to provide healthcare to illegal immigrants.

“Federal tax dollars should benefit Americans, not reward people from other countries who break the law,” Cassidy said. “That only encourages more illegal immigration.”
