California Democrats Want to Give Medicaid to Illegal Immigrants

It’s no secret that America’s borders have not been secure for some time, causing many problems. It’s also no secret that America’s entitlement system has been broke for some time, leaving many to wonder how it will be paid for in the future.

Now some genius politicians have decided to combine these two problems to make them worse.

“A California lawmaker has pledged to re-introduce a bill that would allow adults who live in the state illegally to receive medical care paid for by the government,” reports The Washington Examiner.

Joaquin Arambula, a Democrat State Assembly member and doctor announced the plans recently, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“Roughly 1.2 million would qualify for Medi-Cal”

“Should the bill advance, California would become the first state to extend Medicaid coverage regardless of immigration status,” reports The Washington Examiner. “State projections for last year’s bill found that 1.8 million people in California are uninsured and reside there illegally; roughly 1.2 million would qualify for Medi-Cal, the name of the state’s Medicaid program.”

1.2 million? How is this remotely sustainable?

Apparently, Arambula introduced a bill similar to this one last session, but it would have covered fewer people than originally envisioned.

“The latest plan would carry an estimated price tag of $3 billion a year, according to California’s Legislative Analyst’s Office, which would be paid for by the state’s general fund,” according to the Examiner. “Medicaid is otherwise jointly funded by the state and federal governments.”

Some have wondered if illegal aliens in other states might move to California to receive these benefits. This would obviously jack up state spending significantly. Apparently, “California has already extended Medicaid to people younger than 19 who are in the state illegally.”

It’s good to want to help people. But there’s no money for this. These services are being offered to people who aren’t even legal residents, when it’s not even sustainable for legal residents.

Can California get any crazier?
