2020 Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg said at a town hall in Reno, Nevada on Sunday that if President Donald Trump refused to leave the White House if he loses the election, he could “do chores.”
A voter posed a question to Buttigieg, asking what he would do if Trump said, “No, this is all a hoax,” and refused to concede the election.

Buttigieg replied, “I mean, if he won’t leave, I guess if he’s willing to do chores, I guess we could work something out.”

The former South Bend, Indiana mayor continued, “I think we want to set a goal of winning big enough that this election is way beyond cheating distance and that Trumpism goes into the history books, too.”
Buttigieg added, “It’s gotta be a win so big that Senate Republicans are reunited with their consciousness, and only a political shockwave can do that, and that’s part of our focus.”
Bill Maher Has Also Pushed This Narrative
This scenario of President Trump supposedly refusing to vacate the White House if he is defeated in the 2020 presidential election is a red herring that has been making its rounds on the left.
On Friday night, HBO’s Bill Maher asked the same question.
“So my question to all Democratic candidates is, what’s the plan?” Maher said. “If you win and the next day he claims he’s avoiding the election because of irregularities he’s hearing about, what do you do?”
“What do you do when the crowd that was in Virginia this week $22,000 strong marches on Washington? ” Maher went on. “This is a scary moment. And when I’ve asked Democrats, what do we do if he doesn’t go? Their answer is always some variation of we have to win big.”
This is nothing new for Maher. He made similar comments in October.

This is part of where liberals are likely getting this notion, including the person asking Buttigieg his question at the Nevada town hall.
After making his initial comments Friday, Maher played a number of clips that ended with MSNBC contributor Zerlina Maxwell saying “We would need a landslide.”
“Okay first of all, no! No!” Maher exclaimed. “We don’t have to win via landslide. Jesus. F****** Democrats. I am so sick of Democrats volunteering to play by two different sets of rules. That’s the new paradigm?”
“Republicans can win by one vote but we’re not legitimate unless it’s a landslide” Maher finished.
