Joint Base Andrews is on lockdown after a report of an active shooter, according to the Washington, D.C.-area base’s official Twitter account.
The tweet, posted shortly after 9 a.m., directed personnel on the base to shelter in place.
The incident was taking place at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility, according to the base’s Facebook page. The post indicated first responders were at the scene.
The base had been scheduled to participate in a drill but received a report of a “real-world active shooter situation,” according to another post.
“Due to the serious nature of this report, the base is reacting to ensure the safety of all personnel,” the post read.
