Florida School Shooting Survivor Slams Media For Politicizing Tragedy

Brandon Minoff

Brandon Minoff, an 18-year-old senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and survivor of last week’s deadly shooting, is sounding off on the media for politicizing the tragedy to push their gun-control agenda.

The media have been disgracefully shoving microphones and cameras into the faces of children who just suffered through a school shooting that killed 17 of their friends.

They have been gleefully seeking out those such as David Hogg, who has become a darling of the liberal left, because of his comments declaring the NRA are a bunch of “child murderers” and his willingness to tell President Trump “you sicken me.”

Ironically, the one person the media hasn’t been focusing on very much is Minoff, who is disgusted by their exploitation of his fellow students.

Minoff told Fox News he believes the media is willing to prop up these kids because they have one goal in mind – pushing an anti-Second Amendment, gun-control narrative.

“I wholeheartedly believe that the media is politicizing this tragedy,” he said. “It seems that gun control laws is the major topic of conversation rather than focusing on the bigger issue of 17 innocent lives being taken at the hands of another human.”

Minoff went on to explain that there are, contrary to media reports, two sides to the debate.

“I know many people who are pro-gun and others who support gun control but it seems that the media is specifically targeting those in support of gun control to make it seem as if they are the majority, and the liberal news outlets are the ones that seem to make the bigger effort to speak to these people, and I’m talking from experience,” he said.

Minoff has been interviewed by CNN and MSNBC right after the tragedy, but has since been abandoned in favor of greater camera time for the clearly anti-gun Hogg.

Why? Perhaps it’s because this young man isn’t emotionally reacting to the tragedy to push for a gun ban.

MSNBC’s Brian Williams asked Minoff last week what he would do to prevent such shootings and, rather than go for the guns, he responded that it was a mental health issue.

“Gun-wise I don’t think there’s any way to prevent it,” he said. “You outlaw guns it just creates a higher demand for it.”

“I think it has to do with mental health, though,” Minoff added. “If he’s been expelled three different times from three different schools, I think he needs to be helped out.”

Maybe that’s why he’s taking a backseat to protesters conducting “lie-ins” in Washington – he’s not toeing the line, or the lie.
