Border Patrol Finds 5-Year-Old Girl Wandering Alone Near Border Wall

5 year old girl border

On Tuesday, Border Patrol agents reported finding a 5-year old girl from Guatemala wandering alone by the border wall near San Ysidro, California. According to Border Patrol, the agents came upon the little girl sometime on Monday morning.

Border Patrol agents also said they witnessed the girl being abandoned and were able to rescue her before any harm could come to her.

They reported her to be in good health but could find no contact information with her for any family or guardian living in the U.S.

Just The Latest In The Ongoing Crisis At The Border

Unaccompanied children continue to be a major problem at the U.S.-Mexico border. Border Patrol Officials report a surge overall in illegal immigrants crossing the border into the U.S.

The number of border detentions rose to 178,000 in April, a 21-year high.

Since President Joe Biden took office, the situation at the southern border has continued to deteriorate. As Trump-era policies were rolled back, the more porous the border became.

A report from the Washington Post says that the Biden administration has tied the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, and essentially rendered the agency useless due to new immigration policy.

VP Harris Goes To Guatemala

Vice President Kamala Harris made her first trip abroad as Vice President to Guatemala for what is described as a fact-finding mission to discover the “root causes” of illegal immigration from countries know as the “northern triangle” in Central America. Those countries are Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.

Republicans and other critics of the Biden administration say the root causes of the border crisis are Joe Biden’s insistence on rolling back every bit of Trump-era immigration policy, even policies that appeared to be working.

Almost immediately after taking office, Biden ended construction of the border wall and ended the “Remain in Mexico” policy. Biden also encouraged Congress to pass legislation that would create a pathway to citizenship for those in the country illegally.

Harris received a less than enthusiastic welcome to Guatemala. Protesters with signs that read “Kamala Go Home,” and even some that read “Trump Won” were stationed outside the presidential palace.

Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei has put the blame for the crisis squarely on Joe Biden. He also said that he and Vice President Harris, “are not on the same side of the coin” regarding immigration.

Giammattei continued, “We asked the United States government to send more of a clear message to prevent more people from leaving.” He added that Biden’s message changed after he became president, “The message changed too: ‘We’re going to reunite families, we’re going to reunite children.’ The very next day, the coyotes were here organizing groups of children to take them to the United States.”

Children Continue To Be Found Traveling Alone

Last month a horrible video came to light of a 5-year-old boy screaming not to be left alone as he is abandoned along the border.

In April, a 10-year old boy was found traveling alone after the group he was with disappeared. In May, five children, ages, seven, five, three, two, and eleven months old were found in extreme heat conditions along the Texas-Mexico border.
