Man Arrested for Threatening Congressman Bob Goodlatte

What is it with liberals and threatening Republicans?

Last spring, a crazed Bernie Sanders supporter shot up a baseball field full of Republican congressmen. President Donald Trump gets death threats on the regular. Heck, just two weeks ago, Rep. Scott Taylor was threatened by a crazy constituent.

Now we have another instance of liberals’ perverted form of “justice.” A man has threatened Virginia Congressman Bob Goodlatte.

Via the Daily Wire:

On Friday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Western District of Virginia announced the arrest of a Roanoke man accused of threatening to murder Republican Congressman Bob Goodlatte (VA) over social media.

The USAO charged 38-year-old Christopher Michael McGowan with “one count of making a threatening communication through interstate commerce,” according to a statement from the Department of Justice.

“Federal law criminalizes threatening communications made through the internet or a telephone, and these types of threats are not protected by the First Amendment,” U.S. Attorney Cullen said in the statement. “As this case indicates, our office will act swiftly to address threats of gun violence.”

McGowan reportedly sent many threatening messages to Rep. Goodlatte, including this lovely little missive: “I will do this in full belief I am defending the constitution of the United States. I am not making a joke. I will kill him. Should you believe my doing so would be illegal please arrest me so we can have this discussion in court BEFORE I actually do it. Thank you.”

Looks like he got what he wanted.

As the Conservative Tribune points out, Goodlatte chairs the House Judiciary Committee, which is currently investigating possible FISA court abuse by the Obama Administration. The Committee’s investigation is a direct criticism of the Robert Mueller-led probe, which was started thanks to possible trumped-up charges brought on by the Obama Administration against the Trump campaign.

Back in November, Rep. Goodlatte announced that he will not be running for re-election this fall. It’s hard to blame him, given the violent and murderous language of the left.
