Biden Urges Vaccine Requirements

The FDA approval comes less than a week after reports that the administration and health authorities would urge booster shots.

Those shots would begin happening as soon as mid-September according to the administration.

Biden said, “If you’re a business leader, a nonprofit leader, a state or local leader who has been waiting on full FDA approval to require vaccinations, I call on you now to do that. Require it. It only makes sense to require a vaccine to stop the spread of Covid-19.”

The president said that private sector companies to “step up the vaccine requirements that will reach millions more people.”

Biden also urged Americans who aren’t vaccinated to take the vaccine.

“If you’re one of the millions of Americans who said they will not get the shot until it has full and final approval of the FDA – it has now happened,” Biden said.

Just last week, The Hill reported that Biden was “walking a fine line on vaccine mandates.”

“But there are several far-reaching measures Biden could impose — and that some experts are calling for. So far, the president has decided against implementing the kind of requirements implemented by U.S. allies.”

71 percent of Americans 12 years and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Mayo Clinic has the number for fully vaccinated Americans around 50 percent.

Pfizer is the first company to have its COVID-19 vaccine approved by the FDA with more to come, says the administration.
