Biden: Trump Supporters Really Think ‘All Mexicans Are Rapists’

Biden Trump

In a moment reminiscent of Hillary Clinton’s famous ‘Deplorables’ insult, Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden indicated that working-class supporters of President Trump are racist, xenophobic, and Islamophobic.

Biden made the comments during a virtual fundraiser with wealthy donors Wednesday evening.

The former Vice President laughed off the idea of trying to reach out to Trump’s base, saying he would “probably not” be able to win over blue-collar Republican voters.

Because You’re Deplorable

Biden told the select group of about 55 donors that President Trump engages in the politics of division – an especially rich comment coming from the Obama-Biden presidency that was one of the most divisive in history.

“There are people who support the president because they like the fact that he is engaged in the politics of division,” he claimed without evidence.

That’s when he channeled his inner Hillary.

“They [Trump supporters] really support the notion that, you know, all Mexicans are rapists and all Muslims are bad and … dividing this nation based on ethnicity, race,” Biden said.

“This is the one [sic] of the few presidents who succeeded by deliberately trying to divide the country, not unite the country.”

Biden Hates You as Much as Hillary

The President’s campaign fired back at Biden, comparing these comments to the ‘Deplorables’ debacle in 2016.

“Biden reveals his disdain for certain Americans burns just as hot as Hillary’s,” a statement reads, suggesting he is insulting “white, working-class, high-school educated people” that he so desperately needs to woo if he has a shot of beating Trump.

Edward-Isaac Dovere, a writer at the Atlantic, notes that although separated by four years, Biden’s comments are “not that different” from Hillary’s “except for the ‘basket’ phrasing.”

Dividin’ Biden

Indicating he had no idea he just insulted everybody who has voted for – or intends to vote for – Trump, Biden proceeded to reassure donors that he can attract those same people.

“The people who voted Republican last time … who don’t want to vote for Trump, whether they want to vote for me or not is a different story, but they don’t want to vote for Trump, they’re looking for an alternative and I think, I hope to God, I can provide that alternative,” he said.

“I really mean it. I think there’s a chance.”

About as much of a chance as Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber.

Speaking of the politics of division …

A Gallup poll from earlier this year indicates that satisfaction with race relations and the position of minorities in America have significantly increased since President Trump took office.

When all was said and done, the Obama-Biden presidency was the one that truly divided the country.

A poll one month prior to the 2016 election showed a majority of Americans believed race relations had worsened under Obama. 54% said the divide had grown worse, while a very low 16% said it had gotten better.
