A new report indicates the Biden administration is considering a partnership with private firms to surveil Americans online for alleged “extremist chatter.”
CNN reports that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is in discussions to use “outside firms” as a means “to track extremist chatter by Americans online.”
The news outlet writes that the administration is currently hamstrung “in how it can monitor citizens online without justification” and how the DHS is looking at private firms who can access private groups or messaging apps “to circumvent those limits.”
The effort, CNN writes, “would expand the government’s ability to gather intelligence but could draw criticism over surveillance of US citizens.”

Biden turning to private firms to surveil Americans is a bit of a surprise especially when you consider the fact he has argued to abolish private detention centers for illegal immigrants in part because they “consistently underperform Federal facilities.”
“There should be no private prisons, period. None, period,” he told a band of hecklers at a recent speech. “That’s what they’re talking about, private detention centers. They should not exist, and we’re working to close all of them.”
But surveil Americans using private firms? The administration is, apparently, down with that.
What isn’t a surprise is the President’s reported eagerness to try and circumvent the rules so they can spy on American citizens.
Biden is, after all, the man who liked to brag that he practically wrote the Patriot Act.
The ACLU describes the Patriot Act as “the first of many changes to surveillance laws that made it easier for the government to spy on ordinary Americans.”
It did so “by expanding the authority to monitor phone and email communications, collect bank and credit reporting records, and track the activity of innocent Americans on the Internet.”
The President has repeatedly bragged that the Patriot Act was based on an anti-terrorism bill he introduced in 1994.
“Civil libertarians were opposed to it,” Biden said. “Right after 1994 – and you can ask the attorney general this – because I got a call when he introduced the Patriot Act. He said, ‘Joe, I’m introducing the act basically as you wrote it in 1994.'”
Biden was referring to then-Attorney General John Ashcroft.
“It was defeated then not by any liberals,” Biden continued. “It was defeated then by the folks who were worried we’d have the Minutemen, would get in trouble. By the Mr. Barr’s of the world, who were worried about the right-wing, not anything else.”

The report that the Biden administration is seeking ways to circumvent laws as a means to surveil Americans comes as they ramp up their rhetorical attacks aimed at alleged “white supremacy.”
White supremacy is code in Biden-land for anyone who supports Trump.
It also comes as Bloomberg News reports that the Justice Department is pursuing new laws to address domestic terrorism.
“The Justice Department is ‘actively considering’ whether to seek a new law that would let prosecutors bring specific charges for plotting and carrying out acts of domestic terrorism,” they write.
Bloomberg breathlessly reports on the riot at the Capitol being “carried out by extremist supporters of then-President Donald Trump” and immediately equates it to white supremacy.
“The FBI has warned that domestic violent extremists pose a heightened threat for carrying out attacks in the U.S. in the near future, with white supremacists being the most lethal threat,” they write.
The most lethal threat to America is an incompetent FBI that has become politically motivated rather than criminally motivated over the last several years.
“We are exploring with our lawyers, civil rights, civil liberties and privacy colleagues, how we can make use of outside expertise,” one DHS official told CNN.
Such actions, the network admits, “would be operating in a space that would likely make civil liberties advocates, not to mention conservatives, hair stand on end.”
This news should make every American’s hair stand on end.
