Staffers of Senate hopeful Beto O’Rourke were caught on camera by the Project Veritas team admitting to using campaign funds to support the migrant caravan currently making its way to the United States.
This, anyone with a cursory understanding of election law can understand, is highly illegal. These staffers will probably never work in politics again after committing this crime, and for good reason.

O’Rourke campaign caught clandestinely supporting migrant caravan
According to Project Veritas, these staffers admitted to “illegally using campaign resources to buy supplies and help transport Honduran aliens.”
Here are what some staffers were caught on tape saying, referencing, specifically, the incoming migrant caravan:
“The Hondurans, yeah… I’m going to go get some food right now, like just some stuff to drop off…”
“Well I think they accepted them as like asylum-seekers… So, I’m going to get some groceries and some blankets…”
“Don’t ever repeat this and stuff but like if we just say that we’re buying food for a campaign event, like the Halloween events…”
“There’s actually stores that just mark it as ‘food’ they don’t mark different types… at Albertsons, on the receipts, it marks it just based off of brand…”
“I think we can use that with those [campaign pre-paid] cards to buy some food, all that s**t can be totally masked like, oh we just wanted a healthy breakfast!”
The reference to Hondurans is a clear reference to the caravan, which originated in Honduras. The Honduran president told Vice President Pence the caravan was started and financed by major left-wing groups. (RELATED: Honduran President Claims Leftists, Venezuela Behind Migrant Caravan.)

O’Rourke campaign scheme to fund migrant caravan is monstrously illegal
The entire scheme is illegal, of course. Here’s what an attorney for Project Veritas had to say about the furtive funding operation:
“The material Project Veritas Action Fund captured shows campaign workers covering up the true nature of spending of campaign funds and intentionally misreporting them. This violates the FEC’s rules against personal use and misreporting. It also violates Section 1001, making a false statement to the federal government. The FEC violations impose civil penalties, including fines of up to $10,000 or 200 percent of the funds involved. Violations of Section 1001 are criminal and include imprisonment of up to five years.”
This would normally be damning for any competitive Senate campaign. But Beto O’Rourke’s overly-hyped campaign has never been competitive against incumbent Ted Cruz. Just a few days out from the election, RealClearPolitics shows Cruz’s sweeping the board when it comes to polling. Every measure has Cruz up by, at the very least, 3 points, and, at the most, 10 points.
Beto’s floundering campaign just got a new headache. After Cruz wallops him on Tuesday, it looks like some criminal investigators will have some questions for him.
