Socialist Sanders Earned $1 Million Last Year Bashing Millionaires

Bernie Sanders Earned 1 million

Bernie Sanders, the self-proclaimed socialist, is apparently more bipartisan than you’d think.

On one hand, he manages his money as well as your typical socialist. He and his wife had over $65,000 in credit card debt during his campaign despite his six-figure income, which clearly embarrassed him, as he tried to avoid disclosing his personal finances. At the same time, Bernie was fending off a scandal regarding his wife’s former leadership at Burlington College, a small liberal arts college in Vermont that was effectively bankrupted during her leadership. Not only that, an analysis of all the social programs he proposed during 2016 showed they would add an additional $18 trillion to the national debt over 10 years. (RELATED: Video Imitates a Debate Between Milton Friedman And Bernie Sanders).

On the other hand, you wouldn’t know Bernie is a socialist in his quality of life. The man owns three homes, more than the average person he claims to represent, and his Presidential ambitions only further helped him financially. Bernie’s income topped $1 million in 2016 thanks to publicity from the election, putting him in the top 1%. Bernie’s 2017 financial disclosure form was filed last month, and it’s finally available to the public. According to The American Mirror, in 2017, Bernie “took in a total of more than $810,000 from two different book deals with Macmillan – St. Martin’s Press in New York City, one that netted a $505,000 advance against earnings and another for $306,000 in royalties.” That, plus his $174,000 annual salary as a Senator, puts his 2017 income right around the $1 million mark yet again in 2017. Who knew anti-capitalism could be so profitable?

Of course, we don’t have any problem with Bernie Sanders earning money, and it’s not like he can control the number of people who purchase his books. What we do have a problem with is Bernie maligning “millionaires and billionaires” for every problem in the world that he doesn’t understand, when he’s a millionaire himself.

Clearly, the rich people that Bernie maligns aren’t using their wealth to his liking. In that case, why doesn’t he lead by example? Something tells me that Bernie likes capitalism when it benefits him, just like the rest of us.
