Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson told a church crowd Monday that he doesn’t agree with all the things that come out of President Donald Trump’s mouth.
Carson, addressing a congregation at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga., explained that constantly saying “inflammatory things” can actually distract from someone’s message, reports the Hill.
“I’m a member of this administration and I don’t agree with the president about everything that he says or of how it is said,” Carson told the crowd. “If the way you say things is so inflammatory that people can’t hear your message, it is not helpful. And that is why I don’t do that anymore.”
The president has faced a slew of outrage in the past week after he reportedly called Haiti and Africa “sh*hole” countries and wondered why the United States was letting in immigrants from those countries over Norway. Trump has denied using vulgar language to describe the countries, but said he did use “strong language” in the meeting.
