Behar Stopped Doing Comedy in Obama Era Because ‘There Was Nothing to Make Fun Of,’ She Says

'The View' co-host apparently 'forgot' about a number of issues during that time

ABC News’ “The View” co-host Joy Behar said on Wednesday she stopped performing political stand-up comedy during former President Barack Obama’s administration because he “was too good” — adding, “There was nothing to make fun of there.”

It’s no secret many liberals long for the days of the Obama administration and that they loathe President Donald Trump.

But Behar seems to think the former president can do — and has done — nothing at all worth mocking or criticizing.

Comedian and former “The Tonight Show” host Jay Leno joined “The View” co-hosts on Wednesday as they discussed political stand-up comedy in the Trump era. Leno said he performed stand-up comedy when former President Bill Clinton “was horny” and when former President George W. Bush “was dumb.”

“It was what we call a simpler time,” Leno said.

Guest co-host Ana Navarro claimed that now there is only “one side that is doing such a good job of humiliating and degrading themselves.” Apparently she was referring to Republicans.

Behar said, “You know, I did stand-up up until Obama came in, and then I was losing interest because he was too good. And there was nothing to make fun of there. With Bush, it was a bonanza.”

In her bias, Behar apparently “forgot about” the Obama administration’s numerous ethical embarrassments and outrages.

Obama’s former national security adviser, Susan Rice, lied to the nation on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” and other shows when she claimed the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans was a spontaneous riot caused by an anti-Islamic TV documentary.

In reality, U.S. officials knew even before the attack was over that it was a planned terrorist operation.

The former president’s IRS also targeted Tea Party, conservative, and evangelical nonprofit applicants beginning in 2010.

Lois Lerner, the IRS executive at the center of that scandal, refused to answer congressional questions about her actions. But she was allowed to retire without penalty.

In addition, Obama’s first attorney general, Eric Holder, became the first Cabinet member to be held in contempt of Congress following the “Operation Fast and Furious” cover-up scandal. The scandal allowed thousands of deadly firearms to be sold to suppliers for the Mexican drug cartels.

The Obama administration’s controversial Uranium One deal allowed a Russian-backed company to purchase an American uranium firm. This move handed Moscow control of 20 percent of the U.S. reserves of the critical material.

Then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton approved the deal — which apparently benefited multiple donors to the Clinton Foundation.

Obama also was widely criticized for releasing five Taliban detainees from the Guantanamo Bay detention center in exchange for disgraced former U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

But Behar apparently could find no material at all for political comedy in these scandals and others.

Behar co-hosted “The View” from 1997–2013 and from 2015 to the present day.

She performed as a stand-up comedian on various networks over the decades. She also hosted the “The Joy Behar Show” on HLN and Current TV’s “Joy Behar: Say Anything!” as well as TLC’s “Late Night Joy.”
