AOC, Far Left Democrats Demand Amnesty For Illegal Immigrants In Spending Bill

AOC called on Democrats to overrule the Senate parliamentarian and include a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants in the reconciliation spending bill.

Far-left Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) delivered a fiery speech in which she called on Democrats to overrule the Senate parliamentarian and include amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants in the reconciliation spending bill.

Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough has thus far rejected efforts by Democrats to slip amnesty provisions into the bill.

“Changing the law to clear the way to [lawful permanent resident] status is tremendous and enduring policy change that dwarfs its budgetary impact,” she wrote.

MacDonough was appointed to the position in 2012 and praised by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.

Ocasio-Cortez and a few other far-left Reps. joined a group of roughly 150 activists and demanded Senate Democrat leaders “override the parliamentarian” because it is “not an elected position.”

Pushing Amnesty

AOC stirred up the activists by pointing out Democrats technically have a “trifecta” of power in the House, Senate, and Oval Office, calling the chance to ram amnesty through the reconciliation spending bill a “ventana de oportunidad” – Spanish for “window of opportunity.”

“We will not surrender our power to an unelected parliamentarian,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said. “Our demand is for the Senate to override the parliamentarian, include a full path to citizenship, and send it back to the House.”

AOC has repeatedly called on the Senate parliamentarian to be fired or overruled for failing to allow various pet projects to get forced into various budgetary packages.

This past February, she objected to a $15 minimum wage being left out of a COVID relief package.

“I think all options should be on the table,” AOC told reporters when asked if MacDonough should be overruled, ignored, or fired.

She reiterated those calls as part of a group of 39 Democrats in October calling on amnesty to be implemented regardless of what the Parliamentarian rules.

“This is a critical moment for our nation’s history, and we strongly urge the Presiding Officer to use their authority to disregard the Senate Parliamentarian’s ruling,” the lawmakers wrote.

White House chief of staff Ron Klain has said the President has no interest in overriding the Senate parliamentarian as AOC would like.

“We’re going to honor the rules of the Senate and work within that system,” he said.

But we’ve all seen how pliable President Biden is by the extreme wing of his party since he set foot in the White House. Will he continue to hold that view as AOC ramps up the pressure?

AOC Ramping Up The Crazy

Ocasio-Cortez made headlines earlier this week when she suggested that large, coordinated smash-and-grab robberies, which are well-documented and causing businesses to shut down in Democrat strongholds, didn’t really exist.

In an interview with the Washington Times, AOC claimed “a lot of these allegations of organized retail theft are not actually panning out.”

It was a claim even the White House rejected.

Los Angeles Detective Jamie McBride eviscerated AOC for the claim.

“This AOC experiment was nice, now it’s time for her to go back to bartending and doing what she does best, because, she’s definitely not a lawmaker and doesn’t keep citizens safe,” said McBride.

Fox News reports that despite her stirring up amnesty talk “it appears highly unlikely” AOC and progressives will get what they want on immigration reform.

“The Senate is evenly split at 50-50, and it is nearly certain that at least one Democrat would refuse to vote to overrule the parliamentarian,” they write.
