AOC Blames GOP for Blocking Senate Coronavirus Aid Package

AOC Coronavirus

AOC just blasted the GOP for not passing the coronavirus relief bill in the Senate, despite the fact it was Democrats who blocked it.

AOC: “The Senate GOP Plan is Corrupt”

Senate Democrats blocked the coronavirus relief plan, voting against funding billions of dollars to hospitals, relief to small businesses, and direct checks to millions of households. The bill fell short by 13 votes, despite being crafted in a bipartisan manner. However, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known as AOC, placed the blame firmly with the Republican leadership.

“The Senate GOP plan is corrupt,” AOC tweeted. “Their greed and incompetence is going to get people killed. Others will be displaced, or unable to eat. They’re holding our country hostage for a Wall St payday.”

The Democrats are the Ones Blocking This Package!

However, AOC neglected to mention that the Democrats attempted to push a “wish list” of demands in through the bill at the same time, something that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell absolutely slammed the Democrat leadership for on Sunday. McConnell gave an example of some of the things the leadership tried to push through on the Senate floor:

Tax credits for solar energy and wind energy, provisions for employees to give special and new treatment to big labor? And listen to this: new emissions standards for the airlines. Are you kidding me? This is the moment to debate new regulations that have nothing whatsoever to do with this crisis? That’s what they’re up to over there, and the Democratic people need to know it! The Democrats won’t let us fund hospitals or save small businesses unless they get to dust off the Green New Deal!

McConnell put the blame firmly on Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer for blocking the coronavirus package, something that AOC didn’t seem to understand.

“I want everybody to fully understand if we aren’t able to act tomorrow, it will be because of our colleagues on the other side continuing to dicker when the country expects us to come together and address the problem,” McConnell said on Sunday, adding that there was bipartisan consensus among the “regular members of the Senate,” but “not in the Leadership office, not in the speaker’s office for goodness sakes.”

AOC needs to get her head out of her rear-end and realize that it’s not the Republicans who are stopping millions of Americans from receiving the relief they need, but the Democrat leadership.
