Anti-Trump Whistleblower Details: What Did Pelosi Know and When Did She Know It?

'This is starting to seem like a politcal set-up,' said Republican Liz Cheney of Wyoming

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the chair of the House Republican Committee, said on Monday she wants answers about how much Democrat leaders knew about the so-called whistleblower’s complaint before the whistleblower actually registered the complaint.

That’s because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) made some stunning comments during an interview on the CBS News program “60 Minutes” on Sunday night.

“He told me it was perfect, that there was nothing on the call,” Pelosi said on the show, referencing a conversation she had with President Donald Trump before the White House released the transcript of his July 25 phone call with the Ukrainian president as well as the whistleblower’s complaint.

“But I know what was in the call,” Pelosi continued — before quickly adding, “I mean, uh, it was in the public domain.”

Pelosi’s remark almost immediately “drew scrutiny from Republicans,” as Fox News pointed out, “because no verbatim account of Trump’s call had yet been made publicly available.”

Cheney wrote on Twitter, “@SpeakerPelosi⁩ said on ’60 Minutes’ last night she knew the details of the classified Ukraine call before White House released [the] transcript.”

“This is starting to seem like a political set-up,” Cheney continued. “So, Madame Speaker, ‘what did you know and when did you know it?'”

“Speaking to Fox News, Pelosi communications director Ashley Etienne said Pelosi was referring only to publicly available information, and that Cheney had misinterpreted the question Pelosi had been asked. Etienne said that to her knowledge, Pelosi was not made aware of the whistleblower complaint or the contents of the transcript before they were publicly released,” the outlet noted.

Separately, some are suggesting there might be a long, ugly battle ahead for the nation regarding the possible impeachment by congressional Democrats of Trump.

Among other concerns, Bret Baier, anchor and executive editor of “Special Report,” said some people want there “to be some accountability for how this all went down, and what was the process? … Was the whistleblower alone? …  We need to know more.”

He noted that of course there are two different sides and two different sets of opinions about much of it.

“Here’s what we know: This is the beginning of the beginning. Not even the end of the beginning,” said Baier, also a senior political analyst for Fox News.

“This is going to be a process that is going to be ugly, no matter where you sit. It’s going to be a painful process to go through,” he also noted on Monday, adding the country has been through impeachment processes before.

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee (RNC) is blasting former Vice President Joe Biden — a leading 2020 Democratic presidential candidate — in a new ad released on Sunday.

The ad highlights the allegations surrounding the Biden-Ukraine corruption scandal — and cuts through the “impeachment inquiry” noise that’s been swirling like a thick, swirling cloud around Washington, D.C.

The ad follows the increased scrutiny surrounding Biden’s role in getting a Ukrainian prosecutor fired — something he bragged about on video last year.

The prosecutor in question was investigating Burisma, a company that employed Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, while the prosecutor was looking into corruption at the company.

The video first begins with ABC’s Tom Llamas asking the question back in June, “Was Hunter Biden profiting off his dad’s work as vice president, and did Joe Biden allow it?”

The video then transitions into The New Yorker’s Adam Entous saying, “I think there’s two separate issues here. The issue of whether it was wise of Hunter Biden to take this position at Burisma when his father was guiding policy in Ukraine — and, you know, the wisdom of Biden and Biden staffers, once they knew that, not to ask Hunter to step down. I think that’s a legitimate subject of scrutiny,” as The Daily Wire and others have pointed out.

The next clip shows Ian Bremmer, head of the Eurasia Group and an editor-at-large at Time magazine.

He’s shown saying, “Fifty thousand a month for Hunter Biden — clearly to be selling influence because otherwise, no one would ever pay him that kind of money — for a company that, frankly, was pretty corrupt and has been before and has been since under investigation … It’s hard to imagine Joe Biden wasn’t aware of it.”

It continues on, with clip after clip after clip — until finally it poses the question with on-screen type that says, in all caps, “Joe Biden, what are you hiding?”

White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, meanwhile, pushed back hard against anchor Chris Wallace during a fraught interview on Sunday.

He said Trump is the real “whistleblower” in the current situation that has gripped Washington. And he slammed the complaint from the so-called whistleblower — a possible CIA operative — that has kicked off an impeachment inquiry by House Democrats as a “Nancy Drew novel” and a “partisan hit job.”

“The president of the United States is the whistleblower,” said Miller on “Fox News Sunday.”

“The president correctly pointed out that the behavior of this individual is close to [that of] a spy,” added Miller.

Miller also charged that the so-called whistleblower’s complaint “drips with condemnation, condescension and contempt for the president” — and reminded Wallace that the intelligence community’s inspector general found evidence of political bias in the complaint, as a Fox News piece about the interview also made clear.
