‘Americans Respecting Their President and Enjoying Their Football,’ Says Laura Ingraham of Saturday’s Game

At the Alabama-LSU football faceoff, there was no question about the appreciation shown to Trump and the first lady

After controversies and arguments over whether President Donald Trump was cheered or booed at two previous sporting events that he attended, there was no question at all about what happened on Saturday.

The president attended a football game this weekend between two of the top college teams in the nation.

First lady Melania Trump was right beside him.

And here’s what happened.

The crowd went nuts when he was shown on the video board at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as home team University of Alabama took on Louisiana State University (LSU).

“I was there and it was a rousing welcome for 45!” tweeted Fox News host Laura Ingraham of “The Ingraham Angle.”

“Americans respecting their president and enjoying their football,” she added.

Here’s her tweet, which shared a video of the loud cheers that greeted the president when he was shown on screen.

“His reception at the showdown between Louisiana State and Alabama contrasted with the scene at Game 5 of the World Series in Washington, where was booed, and the mixed response to his appearance at a martial arts fight in New York,” noted The Boston Globe.

Trump was sitting one tier above the field.

He “waved as fans turned around to look up at the president.”

“He smiled, gave a thumbs-up a few times and threw a couple of fist bumps into the air as the Alabama fans waved red-and-white pompoms in response. First lady Melania Trump got an equally enthusiastic welcome,” the Globe also said.

And “the crowd started chanting ‘USA, USA’ shortly after they were introduced,” Fox News reported.

“The president’s motorcade pulled away from the stadium early in the fourth quarter. LSU defeated Alabama, 46-41,” the same outlet also reported.

“There was little sign of political sentiment on campus but plenty of bipartisan grumbling about the long lines to get in due to enhanced security.”

Outside the stadium, police arrested one man after he took a knife to a “Trump Baby ” balloon.

The man stabbed the protest balloon that was on display near the University of Alabama.

Hoyt Hutchinson, 32, was charged with felony first-degree criminal mischief, according to the Tuscaloosa News.

Hutchinson posted a Facebook Live video saying he planned to deflate the balloon depicting Trump as a crying baby wearing a diaper and holding a cell phone, the publication reported.
