President Trump has found a replacement for Tom Price, the former secretary of Health and Human Services.
On Twitter this morning, the President nominated Alex Azar:
Happy to announce, I am nominating Alex Azar to be the next HHS Secretary. He will be a star for better healthcare and lower drug prices!

From Axios: “Azar stepped down earlier this year as president of Eli Lilly; he served in senior roles at HHS under President George W. Bush.”
This is a solid pick by the president. If confirmed by the Senate, Azar will take over where Price left off in the fight to repeal Obamacare and make health care cheaper for working Americans. Price resigned from his post earlier this year after revelations that he blew millions of taxpayer dollars on privately chartered flights.
Interestingly enough, Azar has a connection to uncovering the sordid dealings of the Clinton. According to Wikipedia, “He served as an Associate Independent Counsel in the Office of the Independent Counsel, Kenneth W. Starr, where he worked on first two years of the Whitewater investigation.”
That’s another bit of good news. Azar’s a health care wonk and a Clinton fighter – a twofer!
Azar will have his work cut out for him getting confirmed by the Senate. Democrats, fresh off a big off-year electoral win, are feeling their oats. They smell blood in Republican waters, and know that their voters are fired up. They will fight tooth and nail to delay this nomination and deprive the American people of an HHS secretary.
President Trump needs to clearly outline why Azar is the right man for the job, and why he can dismantle Obamacare and bring relief to the American people.
Americans want cheaper healthcare, and greater access to doctors. And they don’t want to rely on Washington for their health care needs. Hopefully, Azar knows how to deliver for our country and that is why Trump is nominated him.
