Air Force General Slams Newsweek as Twisted for Suggesting POW/MIA Flag Is Racist

Capture

It’s hard to believe that anybody would even have to acknowledge this, but then anything is possible in the demented minds of liberals.

Now that the hysteria involving the Confederate flag has subsided a bit, the left-wing rag Newsweek decided to manufacture another racial controversy involving another flag.

Here is the opening segment to a recent article (it’s not a parody):

You know that racist flag? The one that supposedly honors history but actually spreads a pernicious myth? And is useful only to venal right-wing politicians who wish to exploit hatred by calling it heritage? It’s past time to pull it down.

Oh, wait. You thought I was referring to the Confederate flag. Actually, I’m talking about the POW/MIA flag.

The article refers to the POW/MIA flag repeatedly as “that damned flag.”

Fortunately, USAF Maj Gen (Ret) Dr. Lee Rodgers took some time to respond to Newsweek in a recent article at Saving Our Future.

Rodgers starts off by explaining to the simpletons at the magazine that while they aren’t always perfect, “the most non-racist society in our country is our military.”

“If you are looking for a place in the world where your skin color has no bearing on your success,” he suggests.  “Look at our men and women in uniform.”

“In the military we train together; we work together; we bleed together; and we die together.”

Rodgers goes on to explain the background of the POW/MIA flag – a symbol that came to be during the Vietnam War era.  The flag represents the need to remember the warriors who never returned from that war, whether they were in captivity or their bodies had never been recovered. A simple flag of remembrance.

Rodgers wonders, “How twisted do you have to be to determine that this simple black and white flag is in any way racist?”

“To suggest that this is in any way affected by the color of the individual is below contempt. Anyone who suggests this is not only stupid. They have demonstrated that they have no concepts of fidelity, courage, and patriotism.”

And that my friends, is why our military men and women have a better understanding of “that damned flag” than the liberals at Newsweek will ever have.

Do you see any form of racism when you look at the POW/MIA flag, the Confederate flag, or the American flag?
