Silver Linings: A Few Things To Be Thankful For In 2022

THANKSGIVING: A Few Things To Be Thankful For In 2022

Well, it’s that time of year again. Time to read all those lame lists of things we are thankful for. Don’t get me wrong, being thankful for what you have is a good thing, but sometimes they sound so cheesy and cliched.

Well, we are going to do it again this year. But this year, it seems to have taken on different meaning. For many of us, the country that we were born into and love, and also for many of us who spent portions of our lives defending, is not well.

It used to be that when it seemed like things in America were not doing well, the late great Rush Limbaugh would always say he would let us know “when it is time to panic.” Well, he never did, so maybe while it might seem time, I am going to go with what Rush would say, now is not the time to panic.

I am thankful we had Rush for as long as we did. I can only imagine what he would be saying! But with that, and hopefully on a bit of a lighter note, here are just a few.

OK I’ll Go First…

Of course, I will start off with family. This is my first holiday season without both parents, so I am very grateful for my husband Randy, and my brother Marc. Randy has always been my biggest writing cheerleader, and even though he hates to fly, got on a plane to go to my graduation this past May from Regent University.

Marc is my little brother, there are nine years between us. That means I am the only one who can beat him up. We have spent this year navigating together through the legal and financial seas of putting our parents’ affairs in order after our mom passed away. We are almost at the end (I think). It is amazing how something sad can make people closer. It definitely has, and I am grateful for that.

My best friend Julie. she is truly my sister. If you happen to be in the Cleveland area, Spellbound is her new shop. I am so proud of her and can’t wait to see it.

Things We Are All Grateful For

In case you have been busy, we are coming up on the half way mark of what will hopefully be the only four years of the Biden presidency, thankfully! Most of us still probably can’t figure out how the country will survive the second half. But America has been through tough times before, and we know she is resilient. We are thankful for that too.

It also probably goes without saying, but I will anyway, we are so incredibly thankful to live in the greatest nation on the planet. America is not perfect because she contains imperfect humans, but it comes pretty close.

After a pretty rough and tumble midterm cycle, we are all very thankful we don’t have to see political ads on TV anymore! We will all be thankful to spend the holiday with our families, even your annoying liberal relative with the severe case of Trump derangement syndrome eating too much, and watching football.

Finally, one more thing on my list, I am eternally thankful for my crazy, silly, amazingly talented coworkers at The Political Insider.
