Watch: President Trump Mercilessly Mocks White House Press at Rally

Donald Trump skipped the White House Correspondents Dinner this weekend, becoming the first President to do so since Ronald Reagan. Instead, he celebrated his 100th day in office with supporters at a rally in Pennsylvania.

In doing so, the President couldn’t help but take a few jabs at the media who were still attending the dinner without him.

Trump mocked the “large group of Hollywood actors and Washington media” who “are consoling each other” while he was hundreds of miles away.

“I could not possibly be more thrilled than to be more than 100 miles away from the Washington swamp spending my evening with all of you,” he said with a smile.

Take a look …

Via CNN:

Minutes into Trump’s Harrisburg speech, he told the crowd just how much he preferred spending the evening with supporters than the Washington media.

“A large group of Hollywood actors and Washington media are consoling each other in a hotel ballroom in our nation’s capital right now,” he said. “They are gathered together for the White House correspondents’ dinner without the President.

“And I could not possibly be more thrilled than to be more than 100 miles away from the Washington swamp spending my evening with all of you and with a much, much larger crowd and much better people,” Trump added.

If there is any industry that deserves to be relentlessly mocked, it’d be the folks in mainstream media.

Remember, it was the media that fired the first shots in this spat, threatening to boycott the event themselves because of how ‘mean’ President Trump was being to them.

Managing editor for opinion at U.S. News & World Report, Robert Schlesinger, said journalists should “let the ratings- and crowd-obsessed narcissist freak address an empty ballroom.”

Always a step ahead of the press however, President Trump beat them to the punch and issued his own boycott, saying he’d rather spend his time speaking to the American people.

True to his word, that’s exactly what he did. And he tossed in a few jabs at the media just for fun.
