5 Times The Media Lied About President Trump During His First Week In Office

It is said, “A lie runs around the world before the truth has time to put on its shoes.” We are only one week into Donald Trump’s presidency and already the media have become unhinged in their coverage of him.

In their rush to “fact-check” Trump and hold him accountable for his “alternative facts,” all they’ve done is publish embarrassingly false news which we only find out weren’t true long after the national leftist freakout has occurred.

I didn’t think they could discredit themselves anymore than they already have the last decade, but they seem intent on proving me wrong and continuously shocking me with the depths they’ll go to attack Trump.

Here are the top 5 fake news stories carried by the liberal mainstream media during Trump’s first week in office.

State Department Resignations

We were told by screaming headlines in the liberal media that a whole bunch of senior State Department officials were so mad about working for Trump, they all decided to resign.

The Washington Post ran an article about an entire senior level of management officials resigning en masse out of protest toward President Trump.

The piece said the resignations were “part of an ongoing mass exodus of senior Foreign Service officers who don’t want to stick around for the Trump era.”

Except, that’s not what happened at all.

Trump asked for their resignations in an attempt to “clean house” at the State Department. This is standard for every incoming administration.

EPA Gag Order

The media breathlessly reported that Trump issued a gag order to prevent the EPA from opposing Trump on climate change and other environmental issues, among other agencies.

But why did he order a media blackout on those departments right after taking office? Because it’s common practice.

As it turns out, those worried about Trump putting a halt on freedom of speech are using theirs’ to spread false information. And that’s according to those who work in the departments targeted.

Veteran federal employees disagreed. Those who spoke to the New York Times said the Trump administration acted no differently than the Obama administration did when taking over the reins of government in 2009.

“I’ve lived through many transitions, and I don’t think this is a story,” an unnamed senior EPA employee told NYT. “I don’t think it’s fair to call it a gag order.”

“This is standard practice,” the employee said. “And the move with regard to the grants, when a new administration comes in, you run things by them before you update the website.”

20% Tariff

People were abuzz with jokes about taxes on guacamole and Corona beer after the press pool reported that Trump would pay for the wall with a 20% tariff on Mexico and liberals were gleeful to point out that that meant Americans would be paying for the wall.

But then the media started to backtrack…

Turns out that’s not what the press secretary was saying at all. When even crazy lefty Matt Yglesias points out Sean Spicer’s been misquoted,  you know it’s bad!

Missing MLK Bust

The liberal media is always dying to find a reason to call Trump racist (or any other -ist) and one MSM reporter thought he’d found his chance when he didn’t see a Martin Luther King Bust in Trump’s Oval Office. According to Newsbusters:

On Friday, when Time Magazine political reporter Zeke Miller didn’t immediately see the bust of Martin Luther King in the White House’s Oval Office where he expected to see it, his knee-jerk assumption was that it was no longer there. So he tweeted that it was gone, with no indication that he first attempted to confirm with anyone in a position to know that it had been removed. Sensing a golden opportunity, others in the press accepted Miller’s non-observation and freely retweeted it.

But he was WRONG. When told of his mistake, Miller tweeted, “Correction: The MLK bust is still in the Oval Office. It was obscured by an agent and door.” Doh!

Tiny Hands

The left loves to taunt Trump about supposedly having tiny hands so when an Observer reporter had the chance pile on she jumped right on it – and so did tens of thousands on Twitter.

An obvious problem with juxtaposing these two pictures is that they’re not taken at the same angle, place, or moment. Somebody found another image that WAS the same, and proved that the hand had not been photoshopped.

Dana Schwartz was forced to delete her tweet, but notice the difference in the numbers of retweets and shares between hers when it was up and the person correcting her with the truth.

H/T Hot Air

The media is simply beclowning itself right now with false initial reports and with the hysteria over the Executive Order on refugees over the weekend, I’m sure there will be plenty more examples for next week. Just remember: take EVERYTHING you hear with a grain of salt.
